Just received word that Stargates Royal Chocolate Labs has a litter with puppies ready mid January. Have a look at their site, check out their new litter, and give them a call. Jim is a long time friend, he's a great guy to work with and I know you'll love his puppies!

West Coasters, Maria at Kollers Kennels has puppies ready to go home in about 3 weeks. She's located in Northern California.

As of 01.25.10 we have 2 puppies available.

Izzy

Male 14lbs at 8 weeks 11 weeks old in this picture. Playful and affectionate but he definitely has his mellow moments. Curious explorer. Fairly nosey. Smart likes his toys. Could hunt, but probably best as a kids/family dog. Good puppy for kids any age group. Email me for more pictures.

Didn't find what you are needing? Here are more all Chocolate Labrador kennels. Check Stargates Royal Chocolate Labs (New Mexico/Texas) Lighthouse Labradors (Florida), Kollers Kennel (California), 3D Labrador Retrievers (California), Pheasants Run Kennels (Wisconsin), Trinity Chocolate Lab Kennels (Minnesota) or Three Rivers Kennel (South Carolina) for puppy availablity. These folks all have some Stargate pedigrees in their genetics.

We love to see how our puppies are doing. Check out more on our Owners Feedback Pages, meet
some of our puppies and please feel free to talk with their owners. Some examples below.

ATTENTION! We are no longer removing the dew claws on our puppies. Our vet has convinced us that it is unnecessary. The primary purpose for removal is to prevent injury in rough country retrieving. 95% of our puppies will never do rough country retrieving, and of those 5% who do, probably 90% will not ever experience a dew claw injury. The doc says he does not see dew claw injuries any more than footpad injuries, and even then, they are not that serious. Puppies are not anesthetized for the procedure and it is very painful (take a pruning shear, cut off your thumb and feel for yourself). We are taking a more humane approach and no longer removing dew claws.

Yes, we DO deliver all of our puppies! I've had so many doubters recently, thought I'd publish this picture we received from Peggy Kempton in Harvard MA. Yes, this how we travel. My wife and I in the front and the whole back a custom puppy pen. More photos and emails from our new owners can be found in our owners feedback pages.

I accept 8 deposits, 4 males, 4 females until puppies are born and I have an actual count. It is not unusual for all 8 deposits to be taken by the time they are born. If you want a puppy you should first email or call me 530-321-2199 to make sure it is still available and then send your deposit via PayPal. Full info is found on the RESERVE A PUPPY page.

Read Stargate Kennels History to see where we started and why we do what we do here. Have a look at my new Puppy Care menu (scroll to bottom of any page to access) for good tips on puppy feeding, housebreaking, crate training, exercise, veterinarian selection, pet insurance, puppy proofing (including poisons and hazards to avoid), worming and what to have on hand when you bring your puppy home for the first time. See what some current owners have to say about their puppies. (Sorry for the big pages!) For folks who have our chocolate labs and want to research old photos, or for anyone who likes puppy pictures I have started a Stargate Kennels chocolate labrador retriever archive section, nothing fancy, just lots of puppy pictures. Some are better than others, reflecting my slow improvement as a puppy photographer, I guess.

Black, Brown or Yellow? One of the best explanations of color genetics in labs that I have seen can be found here http://users.tpg.com.au/choclab/cci/cci.htm

. .from the AKC website . . . "The beloved Labrador Retriever is playful, loving to people and hardworking. The Lab can be counted on as a true friend anytime, anyplace, and is highly respected for his prowess at many jobs: as a guide dog for the disabled, a search-and-rescue dog, and for narcotics detection. The Labrador is a member of the Sporting Group and was first recognized by the AKC in 1917."

. .again from the AKC website . . . "Did you know? The Labrador Retriever did not come from Labrador, but from Newfoundland . . . The Labrador Retriever is one of the prime breeds selected as guide and rescue dogs. The Labrador Retriever is gentle with children and the elderly . . . keep in mind that Labrador puppies are full of energy . . . The Labrador Retriever is not an aggressive dog, but it will bark to ward off strangers."

We breed a wonderful line of chocolate labrador retrievers, providing chocolate lab puppies mainly for family pets, selecting our breeding stock for gentle disposition, intelligence, size (large) and color (dark).  The extended pedigrees of our chocolate labs are also replete with field trial champions and excellent field chocolate and black and yellow labrador retrievers, skilled and proven hunters.  On the occasions when we have provided retrievers for hunting, the results have been outstanding, with our lab puppies performing extremely well, many times with absolutely no formal training. Be sure to visit our new chocolate labrador retriever puppy owners pages, and read their comments on their new lab puppies.  In the US and Canada we offer personal delivery to your door, and for worldwide delivery we recommend Jim O'Brien at Obriens Animal Transportation, who has safely and carefully delivered puppies for us as far away as Saudi Arabia and Taiwan.
